Student Leadership

Inglewood has a legacy of strong student leadership and developing high calibre leaders each year.

It is an exciting time for student leadership at Inglewood Primary School this year with students having the opportunity to lead in a range of portfolio areas. Students are developing the portfolios to encompass all the leadership opportunities at Inglewood Primary School.

The Green Leaves team will be looking for ways to be more sustainable and environmentally aware. They will be working with the Gardening club, looking for ways to reduce waste around the school and for other ways to keep our environment beautiful.

The Health and Well-being portfolio are in charge of clubs and the playground and help organise events to keep our students happy and healthy. This includes our lunchtime veranda games and clubs such as Lego club, Minecraft club and Skipping Squad.

The Customs and Culture portfolio covers cultural events, school culture and whole school events, working with support of our P & C.

The Student leaders are selected through a process that begins in year 5. To be considered, students nominate their expression of interest for a position in Stage 1. The classroom teachers then consider the applications and students then move to Stage 2, which involves preparing and delivering a two minute speech to Year 4 and 5 students and current Year 6 leaders. A voting process then follows where students from years 4- 5 and student leaders vote with the Electoral Education Centre (WA Electoral Commission) running the process. Student leaders are announced at the end of year 5 and badges are presented at the beginning of year 6.
